It is designed to capture and redirect water that infiltrates through the walls or seeps up from beneath the foundation. The system consists of a perforated drain pipe laid in a trench at the base of the foundation footing, covered with gravel and protected by a geotextile membrane to prevent clogging.
In addition, a wall drainage system, such as a drainage board, is installed to guide any moisture on the walls directly into the drain pipe. The collected water is then directed to a sump pump, which safely discharges it away from the property. This ensures a dry, usable basement space while preventing water damage and mold growth.
